Hochschultag

Windows of Opportunities was presented at ZHAW’s Hochschultag 2025, held under the theme “Sharing knowledge, solving problems and being courageous.” It was a great opportunity to share our approach to the circularity of windows and to demonstrate how collaboration between research, industry, and environmental commitment can open up new perspectives.

New Working Group

The Swiss Association for Windows and Facades (FFF) has established a new working group dedicated to the circular economy of windows — an initiative that is both necessary and long overdue.
We are delighted to be part of this group as a founding partner and look forward to future exchanges and collaborations!

SBE25 Conference

Michelle Schneider will present her paper on windows and circularity at the SBE25 Conference on June 26. The paper explores strategies to extend the life cycle of windows through reuse and recycling approaches.

Windays Conference

We took part in the Windays Conference in Biel and were inspired by the broad range of presentations. It was an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and explore the role of windows in sustainable construction.

AEC Hackathon in Winterthur

At the AEC Hackathon in Winterthur, our team developed the foundation of a specialized window database. The prototype includes a feature that automatically evaluates the reuse and recycling potential of windows, setting the stage for a digital tool to support circular strategies in the building sector.

Ecosystem Event

Windows Of Opportunities were invited to present our window reuse business plan at the Ecosystem Event. This acceleration program helps over 100 aspiring entrepreneurs develop and refine their business ideas.

Thank you for the evening !

We are now a member of the German “Fachverband konstruktiver Glasbau” in the sustainability working group. The aim of this group is to exchange knowledge from research and industry and thus promote the reuse and recycling of glass and windows in Europe.

Exposition at OpenHouse Basel

Through RE-WIN, an organisation that sends old Swiss windows to Ukraine for reconstruction, we had the opportunity to host an exhibition at the Basel 2023 Open House. As part of the event, we organised a window-themed memory game to engage and entertain visitors.

Conference at TH Augsburg

Students at the University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg organised a conference on Re-Use with guests Yayun Liu from MVRDV, Falk Schnemann from KIT and Michelle Schneider from ZHAW. It was a great opportunity to present my Master’s thesis conducted at the Institute of Constructive Design.
